Members of the Kitlocker.com team were present at the Fly DSA Arena event organised by Move More.

The Guinness World Record for the most people playing hopscotch simultaneously has been broken! 679 people – including 6 of our own team – took part in the classic playground game on Monday morning as Move More Sheffield took the crown from Satilla School, based in the United States.

Multiple schools and businesses across the city participated in the event, with each hopscotch player receiving a Kitlocker.com sponsored t-shirt to join in with. Staff members from the likes of Sheffield Hallam University and SIV, and even the Mayor of Sheffield, were amongst those partaking.

Move More Sheffield aim to make the city the most active in the United Kingdom by 2020, and the hopscotch event has helped to create a buzz in South Yorkshire ahead of Move More Month in June. Communities across the city are being encouraged to get involved, with businesses being challenged to prove who has the most active workforce.

Edit Two

Kitlocker.com’s Business Development Manager, Lee Cooksey, was present at the Fly DSA Arena, and said he was delighted to help contribute towards Move More Sheffield’s achievement.

“It was great to see so many people from within the city participating in the event. We were really happy to supply Move More with t-shirts for everyone taking part in the event. We hope that their efforts will encourage people to take part in more activities over the coming months within their workplaces and schools. Let’s fight the fat together!”

Tom Hughes, Team Leader at Move More, was integral in organising the event and said that he was proud of his team’s efforts.

“The day was a huge success and we are really grateful to all the volunteers and sponsors that made this possible. It’s a great feeling to help put Sheffield in the record books, and hopefully everyone that came down had a great day!”
