Repair & Wear: How we gave some old kits a new lease of life

At Kitlocker.com, we do our best to expertly apply all of our embellishments in a way that maximises their longevity. But we know that your kit goes through the wringer during every long, hard season.

With all of the blood, the mud, the sweat and sometimes the tears. You wear your kits with pride every weekend.

Even when washing instructions are followed carefully, sometimes all of that wear and washing will eventually take it’s toll on your prints. Numbers, crests and sponsors may start to peel or fade with time.

We think that it’s important to get as much wear out of your kits as possible and minimise waste. We always encourage passing kits down through age groups to increase their lifespan. And there’s no need to waste a great kit just because of some peeling numbers or a fading sponsor.

We’ve also found out from our customers in a recent survey, that around 22% of teams either throw away or recycle their kits when they are finished with them. We reckon that’s a real shame. Especially when we’re in a position to do something about it.

That’s why for a limited time this Spring, we offered a “Repair & Wear” service to our football customers. Giving them the opportunity to send in any kits which have peeling, faded or cracked prints, for us to fix free of charge.

We worked our magic on them and gave them a new lease of life. Rescuing a load of kit that was otherwise destined for the bin.
