From Killamarsh Dynamos to the World Cup, via the Champions League. Not a path taken by a great number of professional footballers over the years. Thanks to our friends at adidas, we had the chance to chat to England and Chelsea defender Millie Bright about the “missing link” when it comes to getting more girls involved in football. Plus England’s chances in France and everything else in between. Check out the video below for our in depth interview.

Hailing from the small town of Killamarsh near Sheffield, Millie learnt her trade with Sheffield United and Doncaster Rovers Belles before earning herself a move to Chelsea. This meant teaming up with Katie Chapman, who was one of Millie’s key inspirations while climbing the footballing ladder.

Since joining the Blues she has been an integral part of their success. Millie has collected two FA Cups and two Women’s Super League medals. She’s also competed in Europe, with Chelsea narrowly missing out on the Champions League Final this season.

Millie made her England debut in 2016 and has been a stalwart at the back ever since. Back in October 2018 she was proud to pull on an England shirt in front of a ‘home’ crowd at Rotherham’s New York Stadium, a short distance from her native town. After missing out on England’s victorious SheBeleives Cup campaign earlier this year, Millie is hungry to make an impact at the World Cup and bring the trophy home.
