Here at Kitlocker, we’re always interested in hearing about how sport and physical activity is used as a force for good.

So when we heard from our neighbours at the Sheffield branch of LKQ Euro Car Parts about how they were running, walking and cycling to raise funds to provide an ambulance for the Ukrainian frontline, we had to get involved.

Along with other branches from across the UK, they’ve been getting active, racking up the milage and doing anything they can to reach their target.

We did what we do and provided the guys with some eyecatching performance tees to wear whilst they’re out and about fundraising.

Safe to say that the team absolutely smashed their target 👏

They’ve currently raised over £23,000 and counting. With two ambulances already paid for and another one on the way!

The company’s divisional director, along with a team of colleagues, have travelled to Poland themselves in order to deliver the vehicles.

We spoke to Sam Lilley from the Sheffield branch about how they achieved this and where the idea first came from…

“The idea came off the back of what’s going on in the war in Ukraine. The divisional directors decided that as a division we could help and do something. So, a target was set of £20,000.

It was all different at each branch, but a lot of it just came from asking our trade customers when delivering parts if they would like to donate. We told them the things we were doing, covering mileage with sponsored walks and sponsored bike rides to accumulate miles, cake sales, charity football cards and all that sort of thing played a huge part.

We had fun in doing so but keeping the real focus on the message that we stand with Ukraine at the forefront of our minds.

The funds which totalled £23,213 has gone towards securing two ambulances that the company has purchased and a third one in the next month or so.

Our divisional director and a team of colleagues are currently in Poland delivering ambulances after making a lengthy trip across.

The t-shirts we received from Kitlocker were extremely comfortable and the right material for what we wanted. Something breathable as we would be doing a lot of exercise in them. We wanted bright for visibility purposes so the colour scheme yellow and blue fell in to place with Ukraines national colours.

The whole thng has been a real success and we hope that it brings some support to the families and people of Ukraine.”

We just want to round off by saying a huuuuge well done to all of the staff at LKQ Euro Car Parts for what they have achieved. We’re proud to be your neighbours!

Slava Ukraini! 🌻
