So what makes a football kit? The basics you need are a shirt, shorts and socks. So lets have a look at some of our favourite Nike options.
Nike Park Kit
We all know too well that the majority of grassroots football clubs work to the tightest of tight budgets. So if your club is looking for something that will make minimal impact on the bank balance, yet still be high quality, then this is the one for you and your team.
The Nike Park VII Shirt has been a staple of the grassroots game for years. So much so that last year, we declared it a “grassroots icon”. Now in it’s 7th incarnation, it’s simplicity, versatility and value for money make it a firm favourite. It’s understated design make it the perfect blank canvas for adding your team identity with club badges, sponsor logos and #PowerUps. Plus, it comes in an incredible range of 15 different colourways as well as a long-sleeved option. That means, whatever your club colours, there’s a Nike Park Shirt for you.
In terms of shorts and socks. You’ll be wanting the Nike Park Shorts and Nike Classic II Socks. Much like the shirt they’ll be going with, they are simple, versatile and very reasonably priced. A match made in football heaven.
Nike Strike II Kit
After something a bit more eye-catching? Got a bit f extra budget to play with? We’ve got you. And we reckon one of Nike’s latest releases might well be what you’re looking for.
The Nike Strike II match shirt was released as part of Nike’s new catalogue in January 21 and it’s already a favourite of Kitlocker Staff. The previous Nike Strike shirt was good, but this year they’ve really taken it up a notch. Everything about this shirt, from the design to the feel of the fabric is like something taken from the elite levels of the game. It’s high-tech, stretchy material makes it incredibly comfortable. It also wicks, moisture away from the body, keeping you dry even in the heat of battle. The shoulder panels are what really makes this shirt’s design stand out, as well as the thunderbolt style stripe down the sides. Nike design team, great work guys!
You could also go with the Park Shorts for this one too (they go with anything!) But the closest match is probably the Nike Laser IV Shorts. Similarly to the Strike II shirt, these match shorts resemble something you’d see the pros wearing. With that comes a slightly higher price tag but if you’ve got the budget for it then they are a great choice. Again, when it comes to socks, the Nike Classic II fit the bill here. With match socks, you don’t need anything too flash, just something comfortable. After all, your feet are pretty important in this sport!
There’s a common trend when teams place their kit orders. All too often, we see the goalkeeper kit being an afterthought to the main outfield shirts. This is not only unfair on the lads and lasses between the sticks, but completely unnecessary! There are some great goalkeeper kits available, especially from Nike!
When you are looking for the top half of your goalkeeper kit then comfort, durability and range of movement are three things that you really need to consider. The Nike Park IV Goalkeeper Jersey has all of those in abundance, with some beautifully styled design on top. It’s five colourways all feature retro inspired sleeve graphics which will have you channelling your inner Jorge Campos (Google him) in no time. And not only all that, it’s really great value price wise too!
If you fancy really treating your keeper this season then nothing says “you’re my #1” like the Nike Gardien Goalkeeper Jersey. Available in both long and short sleeves, the Gardien is Nike’s premium goalkeeper shirt. If you’re lucky enough to get your hands on the Gardien Jersey then you can really see that it just oozes premium design. It’s textured, stretchy material offers maximum range of movement and is easy on the eye too.
Most goalkeepers these days settle for a normal pair of outfield shorts and socks for the rest of their kit. That’s cool. But if you’re not your average goalkeeper you might want something a little more tailored to your needs. If so, then the Nike Gardien Goalkeeper Pants will be right up your street. They offer protective padding to prevent impact injuries. Plus, Dri-FIT technology will stop the extra length from causing you to overheat.
Matchday is about more than just the kit on your backs. There are lots of bits of equipment and accessories required to get the game on. Thankfully Nike have that covered too.
Shop Nike Equipment & Accessories for goalkeeper gloves, kit bags, ball bags, baselayers, bibs, beanie hats and beyond for your team! And there’d be no game at all without a football. Shop Nike Footballs for great value match and training balls.
